Sutton cum Lound's Katie Walter (16), a pupil at Worksop College, is taking on a serious Arctic expedition in April 2009 that will see her walk 60 nautical miles between an Arctic Ocean base and the Geographic North Pole.
Katie will be undertaking this gruelling challenge with experienced explorers, Steve Bull and Mike Thornewill, along with a small group of others.
During Katie's challenge, she will be driven by the fact she will be raising money and for the Notts Air Ambulance and the Dyslexia Action.
But before she can help these charities, she needs to raise significant funds towards her equipment and travel.
To give Katie's fund raising a major boost, her NatWest bank manager Tim Crossland has agreed to buy her some of the essential equipment she needs.
Mr Crossland, NatWest's Senior Agricultural Manager said: "I have known Katie's family for some considerable time, and when I found out about North Pole 2009 and the fact that 10 times as many people have stood on the summit of Mount Everest as have walked to the Geographic North Pole, I wanted to make sure the NatWest Agricultural team locally gave Katie some help.
"I see Katie's expedition as being an important way of putting the local area on the map as well as helping two very important charities, and I'm delighted NatWest are able to help."
Katie is busy preparing for the challenge, juggling training with school work.
"I'm really excited about my adventure, but at the moment it is all about fund-raising, training and my studies.
"Raising money is always a challenge and I cannot thank Tim and NatWest enough for their help," she said.
