Bassetlaw out of salt

BASSETLAW Council salt supplies have hit rock bottom, the authority has revealed.

The council announced on its website that it has no grit stocks left and is unable to confirm a date with its supplier.

It attributes the shortage to the priority given to Highway Authorities to grit A and B roads and major bus routes.

Pavements, footpaths and major pedestrian areas like Carolgate in Retford and Bridge Street in Worksop fall under Notts County Council, which has provided grit for use as and when needed.
