Coun Wendy Quigley is considering starting a protest after being angered by an upturn in prices over recent months.
She has picked out Morrisons petrol station on Moorgate in Retford for particular criticism, which was displaying £1.01 for unleaded fuel at time of going to press.
She said: "I am really angered by these increases. Why do we have the same fuel two pence dearer here than towns 20 miles away and why are we subsidising these towns?"
The average petrol price in the UK rose over May and June by almost five pence per litre to £1.02.
