Taking the reins from Adam Waterworth, Mark faces a hectic schedule including a busy summer calendar of both racing and events.
The first major summer event being the appearance of Brit super- band, 'Scouting for Girls', who play a live outdoor concert on August 14 While Doncaster's annual racing highlight, the four day Classics Ladbrokes St Ledger Festival, follows the concert on September 8.
With ticket sales for the iconic race currently beating year on year figures, race-goers are urged to book tickets to their preferred enclosure early to avoid disappointment.
Fortunately, Mark is well equipped for the job in hand. He has become accustomed to the rigours of a demanding routine, and demonstrated an excellent form in his previous role, steering Newcastle racecourse on its biggest ever winning streak.
Before taking the top job at Doncaster, he recently oversaw the North East venue's own highly successful summer festival, secured its first ever Ladies day sell-out and consequently in his two years there, significantly enhanced the business' portfolio of large scale co-operate and customers events.
Unsurprisingly, Mark has great plans for Doncaster Racecourse, encompassing much more than just horse racing.
A total of £34million has been invested in the infrastructure and track in recent years making it one of the leading conference and event venues in Yorkshire, the Midlands and the North of England.
Developing and increasing this position further is an important priority for the new boss and his team: "I am thrilled to be joining such a thriving and prestigious business at this exciting time and look forward to continuing and building on its achievements," said Mark.
Kate Hills, Director of PR at Arena Leisure, said: "Over the last few years the business has gone from strength to strength and we look forward to Mark bringing further success."
