Town-based JFTR Music, involved in annual competitions since 2004, is playing a key role.
It has again teamed up with the Slumgothic arts project at X Church in Ashcroft Road and the Riverside Festival Committee.
Budding entertainers – including singers, dancers, musicians and comedians – are all invited to take part in the 'X Factor' style contest.
Auditions are being held at the former church on Thursday, February 19, from 5pm to 8pm and Saturday, March 14, from 2pm to 4pm.
"Following on from the success of the talent nights that we've been involved in, this competition will be called the GXF Fest," said Rick Craig of JFTR Music.
"And we're anticipating to be another successful event.
"In 2008 a total of 18 acts battled it out for the opportunity to perform at the Riverside Festival in June.
"The event is open to all ages, so if you are a solo musician, singer, dancer or performer of any kind, why not be that star for a night?"
The final will take place in April.
