Sth Notts 3
THE District side bounced back after last week's disappointment over coming South Notts with a comprehensive win.
The home side started quickly playing eye-catching football creating half chances.
Against the run of play the away side opened the scoring with a fine volley from the edge of the area.
This stirred the district side into more aggressive attacking football. The ever willing Connor Johnson fired a two goal salvo to send them in at half time leading 2-1.
With the wind assisting South Notts, the home side needed to be at their best, playing football on the deck overcoming the blustery conditions was paramount.
This they did firing in four unanswered goals from Jack Walters, Jake McGowan and a brace from Oliver McKay.
South Notts did put pressure on the home side but good defending and resilience from keeper Sam Graney, Robson Doolan, Harry Gonzo Donnelly Captain Brad Mc Gowan and Jack Walters kept the away side out.
Centre midfield paring of Alex Sringfellow and Chris O'Grady worked hard combating a strong South Notts midfield.
Changes were made during the second half with Brendan Parish making his debut, Darcy Vardy and Matthew Edwards being introduced into the fold.
Inevitably but disappointingly South Notts got two late consolation goals, the final score being 6-3.
A terrific team performance under difficult conditions ensured the lads remain unbeaten in the Division.
Special mention goes to Liam Arnold who was converted to centre forward; his contribution to the team play was outstanding.
Next week sees the District U13 side training; all squad members are encouraged to attend 10am-12 at Ordsall.
This session is in anticipation of the District side travelling to Hull on the Dec 13 for a vital Divisional match.
