Even though he is only 31, Bettney has league experience after joining Sheffield United as a trainee, he spent time at Hull City, Chesterfield, Rochdale and Macclesfield Town amassing over 70 league appearances with those clubs.
The right winger can turn his hand as a striker, and has also played in non league more recently with Alfreton Town, Worksop Town and Harrogate Town.
He made his debut in the game against Rushall Olympic on Saturday.
