The prolific-scoring Ian Flood and talented Denzil Cooray put on 18 before the latter was bowled by Jeff Saxby for six.
Ten minutes later, the home side grabbed the prized wicket of Flood, again off Saxby.
Joe Pallister and Mark North took the total to 50 before Saxby struck again by bowling Pallister for 19.
The experienced Pete Evans and North rebuilt the innings with a partnership of 64, before Evans fell one run short of a half-century.
Matt Makings and Appleyard took all the last seven wickets between them and both deserve credit for denying the hard-hitting batsmen.
The final total of 199 represented a hard-fought first innings, but the Bridon reply began very disappointingly.
Without a run on the board, Flood beat the defence of Ashley Corrie and seven runs later Aaron Haycock was caught.
With three further wickets falling cheaply, the score slumped to 40 for five.
Thankfully, the skipper Marc Brewer found a determined partner in the experienced Rob Mcleod and the pair set about rebuilding the innings.
However, both batsmen fell with the total on 115. Mcleod made a sound 26, while Brewer top-scored with a fine 52, including three sixes.
Despite a determined partnership of 34 for the eighth wicket between Stuart Goodall and George Appleyard, the remainder of the batting failed to threaten the visitors' total.
Both Appleyard and Goodall fell with the total on 149 and, with Matt Makings trapped leg before without scoring, the home side were dismissed for a disappointing 152.
Leivers and Flood each took three wickets for the visitors with Gareth Chapple wrapping up the innings.
