Retford United 3
INSPIRED by the shock return on loan of star striker Neil Harvey, Retford United recorded their second crucial away victory in four days.
The result saw them leapfrog hosts Shepshed into second place in the league table with games in hand on leaders Carlton Town.
But they had to come from behind against their promotion rivals after the free scoring Shane Benjamin, having already hit the bar, crashed the ball home from close range on 33 minutes.
United were level before half time when Harvey's perfect cross was headed home by Mick Godber for a remarkable 20th goal of the season.
Harvey had a goal ruled out for offside before Benjamin went close once again.
But he turned provider once again heading down Paul Grimes' cross for Godber to score yet again.
Shepshed, and Benjamin in particular remained a threat, but the points were sealed by sub Ryan Ford on 78 minutes when he lashed home Godber's pass.
United face a third tough away tie with a trip to Stamford on Saturday.
