Rushall Olympic 1

Retford United 3

RETFORD United shattered the perfect home record of promotion rivals Rushall with a vital 3-1 victory.

Boosted by new signing Chris Bettney and the return of Mick Godber, Untied started brightly.

Paul Grimes was looking lively and he gave United the lead from close range after good work by Matt Fisher and Ollie Chappell.

The home side tried to hit back and enjoyed a spell of pressure up to half time but United held firm.

The Badgers increased their lead early in the second half when Ben Chambers forced the ball over the line after Rushall struggled to defend a corner.

Olympic hit back when Niki Preston's bullet header form a corner beat Ross Turner in the United goal.

Turner made a couple of good saves as Rushall pushed for an equaliser while United threatened on the break.

The result was sealed in the final minute when sub Lee Whittington ran on to a through ball and calmly finished.
